The IT List for Wedding Dresses this Spring

As I’m sure you all already know, each season, we are bombarded with the “what’s hot” and the “what’s not” list; tossing out our acid wash jeans and bringing back the sequined skirts.

So it’s of no surprise that yes, even though wedding dresses are seemingly straight forward, the seams themselves ain’t so straight.

That being said, Weddings InStyle fashion experts have deciphered the good, the bad and the over-the-top, and narrowed it down just for you!

The ones that made the IT list this year, were carefully chosen so that in years to come, you're not hiding your wedding pictures under the stairs or in a bin stuffed away in the abyss that is your garage.
We want you to have them hung up and remembered as the best dress you EVER wore!

Bold Shoulders:

The first one to mention on our trend report for spring/summer 2010 is the bold shoulders. Not only did celebs like Eva Mendes and Blake Lively rock out the strong shoulders on the red carpet, the models on the wedding runways did too!
The grand details are what really make these asymmetrical necklines stand out.

Pleating:
Next on the docket is our dear friend- the pleat. Why are pleats our friends? Well, pleats not only show off your beautiful shape with cascading lines and lots of visual interest, but they also hide any imperfections in the midriff and give the extra support every bride needs.

Sheer fabrics:

Simply put, sheer fabrics on a gown, no matter the shape or style, is incredibly romantic and can be worn for a day or evening wedding.

Metallic details:

Metallic’s have been around forever and even though they’ve come and gone and come again into our clothing, they’ve stuck by every season in accessories. Consider this, why add all the glitz and glam in your accessories when you can have it in your dress? Shine down the aisle-literally- in one of these unique new styles that are definitely here to stay.

Garden Romance:

Last but certainly not least is MY personal favorite, the sweet and soft of nature. From rosettes, to colour, to petals, this season leaves nothing to the imagination. This certainly isn’t your usual wedding gown; in fact, some colour choices this year include pastels and even pale greens! This is for a woman who wants something that’s full of class but not necessarily classic.

And there you have it ladies, happy shopping!
